Pariyatti Presents...

This new program consists of hosting talks and workshops by various speakers at various locations including at the Pariyatti facility in Onalaksa, Washington, USA. The talks will explore a wide range of topics from the Tipitiaka, the Pali language, and other topics related to the practice and theory as taught by the Buddha. Dr. Panth, a Buddhist scholar, will be the inaugural speaker for this program, and he will be giving a series of talks and a couple of workshops as detailed below.

Dr. Panth

Dr. Panth is M.A. History, M.A. Buddhist Studies (Gold Medalist) University of Delhi, M.Phil. and Ph.D. He was the Director & Vice Chancellor of Nalanda University from 2000 to 2016. Prior to that he served as the Director of the Vipassana Research Institute for 14 years under the guidance of Goenkaji.

Dr. Panth is a widely travelled scholar and has more than 75 research papers to his credit presented and published in various Indian and international conferences, seminars and workshops. He has delivered more than 70 special lectures in India and abroad and edited and published more than 20 books.

He is now working as a Professor of Buddhist Studies at the Gautam Buddha University at Greater Noida, (NCR Delhi), India.

April 7-13: Introductory Pāli workshop

  • Basics of Pāli grammar

  • Deep dive into key discourses of the Buddha (Mangala Sutta, Anatta Lakhana sutta, etc.) 
  • Discussions on the value of understanding Pāli to support and deepen one's practice

April 13-19: Abhidhamma workshop

  • Introduction to basic Abhidhamma terms and concepts
  • Overview of Abhidhamma
  • Deep dive into Tikapatthana 
  • Role of Abhidhamma in supporting one's daily practice

These workshops are open to all old students of Vipassana as taught by S.N. Goenka who have completed at least three 10-day courses, served at least one 10-day course, and are trying to maintain their daily practice (if you are close to meeting the criteria and feel the workshop would benefit you, please contact us at pali-workshop@pariyatti.org about the possibility of enrolling). 

Old students who do not meet the enrollment criteria may also sign up to serve the workshops.
