This series is inspired by a book we first published over a decade ago, entitled Realizing Change: Vipassana Meditation in Action (by Ian Hetherington). In Realizing Change we are given access to voices from around the world, who share in-depth accounts of their apprehensions before undertaking a ten-day course in Vipassana, their experiences during the course, and the subtle, yet profound, experience of change activated by the practice of Vipassana. People from every walk of life, country, culture, and age have found Vipassana a steady anchor in the gale-force winds of change that buffet us. By facing reality head-on through direct observation—rather than reacting—impermanence itself becomes the very medium of transformation.
Along the same lines, in this new series of Pariyatti Presents… events, Vipassana meditators come and share their personal stories.
In this recording, fellow meditator Debra Barrett talks about the positive impact Vipassana Meditation has had on her life. Debra does not shy away from serious topics such as substance addiction and the difficulties Indigenous people face, and we are positive you will find her story captivating, educational, inspiring.
