Most of our audiobooks, talks and eBooks can be streamed or downloaded for free. This page answers the most common questions.
Streaming audio or video
Recordings play right on the product page. If one will not play:
- Use a current version of Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge.
- Reload the page, or try another browser.
- Ad blockers and privacy extensions can sometimes stop a player from loading. Turn them off for pariyatti.org and try again.
- Streaming needs a steady connection. On a phone, Wi-Fi works best for long recordings and videos.
Downloading a file
Click the download button on the product page, for example "Free PDF", "Download Single File" or "Download Chapters". You do not need an account for free downloads. The file is saved wherever your browser saves downloads, usually your Downloads folder.
- iPhone and iPad: after you tap a download, Safari shows a download arrow in the address bar. Tap it to find the file, and use Share, then Save to Files, to keep it. You can open it later from the Files app.
- Android: files are saved to Downloads. Open them from the notification or from the Files app.
Audiobooks: single file or chapters
Many audiobooks are offered either as one long MP3 file, or as separate chapters packed into a ZIP file. A ZIP file is a folder of files packed into one download. On a computer, open it (on Windows choose "Extract All") and play the MP3 files in any music or audio app. On a phone or tablet, open the ZIP from the Files app to unpack it.
Videos
Videos play on the page. If you download a video file (MP4), it opens in the built-in player on most computers and phones. If it does not, the free VLC player (videolan.org) plays almost anything.
eBook formats
- ePub is the most widely supported format: Apple Books, Google Play Books, Kobo, most e-readers, and reading apps on phones and tablets.
- PDF keeps the printed layout. It works well on a computer or tablet, but can be hard to read on a small screen.
- Mobi is an older Kindle format. Recent Kindle devices and apps work best with ePub or PDF files sent through Amazon's Send to Kindle, and many titles are also available from Amazon.
Check the file type before you download, since different formats suit different devices.
