A translation of the Patisambhidamagga, a practical guide to the way of life the Buddha teaches about along with the philosophy. The Path of Discrimination, or comprehension, is attributed to Sariputta and it tries to show exactly how understanding of reality takes place in a practical sense, not simply in theory.

Agree with designation of this remarkable work of Sariputta - the general of the Dhamma - as an all encompassing, impressively systematic commentary on both Dhamma and Abhidhamma. Worth noticing is that Ven. Sariputta was enlightened, when he composed this. Ven Buddhaghosa was not yet awakened, when he wrote his comprehensive works. Both thus cater to their specific students. Sariputta's Path of Discrimination is not for the beginner..

Sariputta's analysis

From an age when people had more patience, Sariputta's commentary on the Suttantas shows how much there is in the Buddha's teachings. Hundreds of years before Buddhaghosa, this work is like a commentary which made it into the Tipitika. He goes through the teachings systematically. It would take a lifetime of full-time study and meditation to do it justice.
